We made it!

We arrived to The Wilds safely and on time. As soon as we
arrived, checked in, unloaded, and the kids met their counselors
we began our adventures. There is never a dull moment at The
Wilds. Everyone is always doing something.
The Junior Boot Campers (JBC) and Sponsors started with
supper, while the teen campers had cabin meetings. When
the teen campers finished eating everyone was off to meetings.
The JBC then were off to their first service and team event.
The teens had orientation. But even boring old rules are fun
at The Wilds. This year's theme is the Campaign Trail. For
past campers, Willie was in the skits and in his campaign speech
he suggested that all the stairs be removed from camp and
escalators be put in.
After orientation it was on to big ball. You can imagine
800 teenagers on a wet field chasing big balls. After the
game is was time to clean up for the evening service which
didn't start tonight until 9:15.
This is sure to be an exciting week. They keep you on your
toes around here. You never know what is coming next. Please
pray for each and every kid. I know that God is going to do
great things this week.

Lunch at the Franks' home

Our first stop and half way point was Knoxville, Tennessee.
Brother Joel's mother, Mrs. Jane, graciously invited us for
lunch. She had a wonderful Mexican lunch and desserts waiting
for us when we arrived. This also gave us a chance to leave
Possum and Squirrel for the week and take bathroom breaks
and rest for awhile. As you can see the boys got some exercise
while we were there. Austen and Justin decided to race down
the big hill behind the Franks' home by rolling. We had a great
visit and rest time. Thanks again Mrs. Jane for the
wonderful hospitality. We appreciate you!

The Wilds or Bust

Fourteen of us (counting Possum and Squirrel) left the church
Monday morning bright and early. Our destination-The Wilds
in Brevard, North Carolina. The group included four returning
campers-Jesse, Justin, Josh, and Charity and six new
campers-Courtney, Nicholas, Austen, Sara, Will, and Colton.
The kids were great on the ride and no one got sick!
Look what a good job Brother Joel was doing driving.

Memory Lane

Some old pictures sent to us by Netta. Send your pictures
(old and new) to me.

The Wilds

Just a few pictures to remind some of you of what is coming
next week. The waterfall is the 2nd Falls. It is still beautiful,
but not at grand as the 4th Falls. I'm hoping to make the hike
this year. I'm also ready for the Giant Swing. Anyone want to
ride? I hope this gets you excited. We leave Monday morning!
Have you prayed about your week at camp? If not take the time
to do that right now. Ask God to give you a tender heart to the
messages you will be hearing. Allow Him to work in your life
and next week could be the greatest week of your life.

Psalm 51:10-"Create in me a clean heart, o God, and renew a right spirit within me."

National Youth Conference

These are from the Nationals in Birmingham, Alabama in 2006.
Look how everyone has grown up. That was the best
Josh G. was the whole trip-while he was sleeping!!

Camp Time

On Monday, June 30 some of us will be headed to
The Wilds in Brevard, North Carolina. This will be a
time of fun, fellowship, and spiritual growth. If you are
going to camp be praying that God will move in your heart.
If you are not going with us this year, pray for the ones
who are going. You can visit the camp's website at http://www.wilds.org/
I will try to post some pictures and stories while
we are gone (if I can get internet service).

Hello!

I have started this blog so we can all stay connected.
If you have something you would like me to post
please turn it in to me in Sunday School each week
or you can email me (franksmelanie@yahoo.com).
I hope that this will be a useful tool for us.
Remember that I am praying for you.
